If you have AED 1,600,000 to spare, you can get your hands on a 1989 25th Anniversary Lamborghini Countach in red.

Here are some of the points you need to know about this legendary car

  • Mileage: 34,900 km
  • Engine: 5.2L DOHC V12 with 6 Weber carburettors
  • Power: 449 HP @ 7000 RPM
  • Torque: 500 Nm @ 5,200 RPM
  • Transmission: 5-Speed Manual
  • Weight: 1,488 kg (Curb weight)

For the 25th anniversary of its marque, Lamborghini came up with the special edition Lamborghini Countach, which was the final rendition of the Countach before the Diablo was introduced.

For this edition, the car was mechanically untouched over the LP5000 S. However it got various changes, made by the legendary designer Horacio Pagani.

He made nearly 500 changes to the existing design. The nose was raised and air intakes were reshaped to allow better airflow to the front brake. Also, the rear bumper was made bigger by a large margin.

This particular model was delivered to a customer on 11 April 1989 in Germany, from there onwards it was bought in 2001, after which it was acquired by a couple of collectors in 2004. In 2018, the exterior and interior were restored, which included redoing the headlight assembly, electric seats, brake cooling systems, as well as fitting it with new tyres. Lamborghini gave this example of the Countach a thorough service in 2018 as well.

In 2020 there was more work carried out on this Countach, which included swapping, replacing, and tuning various parts of the engine.

Our Take

The 25th Anniversary edition of the Countach is the best version of the Countach. It contains the influence of Horacio Pagani and the essence of the original Countach. It was crazy fast and bought Lamborghini more time to tune out the Diablo’s design to their new owners, Chrysler’s liking.

Now, as for this model, the asking price of 1,600,000 AED is not too far off the median price that this car demands. However, the fact that this has undergone a restoration means that there is a little element of originality that’s lost, although that means that you end up with a very good-looking beige interior now.

Moreover, the mileage, 34,900 km on the odometer is a tad high for a Lamborghini, who are not precisely known for making the most bulletproof cars. The fact that the spark plugs, gaskets, and carburettors have all been replaced and/or tuned offers a bit of comfort.

However, the car is now in pristine condition and is an icon in the car industry. So, if you’re in the market for collecting classics that have the weight that the Countach does, and don’t mind the high mileage, or the restoration, then this is the perfect choice for you.
